PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City of Boynton Beach obtained 1101 N. Federal Highway through a Certificate of Title due to the structure being deemed unsafe. In September 2023, the City demolished the structure and transferred the vacant lot to the BBCRA for future redevelopment of the site for a entryway feature onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
In concert to the City's Unity Project which features a mural by Craig McInnis on the south facing wall of the building to the north, the BBCRA is pursuing redevelopment of the vacant lot at 1101 N. Federal Highway to compliment the mural. Improvements of the site will include the demolition of the existing driveway and curbing and the addition of lighting, landscaping, and small walking path.
Preliminary designs were presented at the November 21, 2024 Board meeting to begin the collaborative planning process and solicit additional ideas for the Entry Feature Park. Read more about the story behind each preliminary design on our BBCRA Boynton Beach Insider Blog post.
At the February Board meeting, the Board selection Version 1: I Dream and directed staff to work towards a final design which was approved by the Board at the March 20, 2025 meeting.
The project is currently in the final planning stages to prepare for site plan approval.
